Meet the Chefs of Del Mar event raises nearly $80,000
Attendance was down only slightly this year at Casa de Amparo’s Meet the Chefs of Del Mar. Eighteen chefs showed up to cook for the 275 guests at the event, which was held April 26 at the Hilton Del Mar.
“As usual, our supporters were there for us,” says Keely Tidrow, Casa de Amparo’s annual fund manager and coordinator of the event. “We didn’t know what to expect with this year’s economy. We know that a number of nonprofits had to cancel events this year due to lack of participation, so we are more grateful than ever that our Chefs event turned out well. The mood was high and people told us they really enjoyed being outdoors with all the good food and wine.”
This year’s fundraiser earned Casa de Amparo nearly $80,000, with auction items bringing in around $50,000 of the total. Casa de Amparo is the Oceanside nonprofit providing child abuse treatment and prevention programs for children and their families throughout San Diego County.
The speaker at this year’s Meet the Chefs of Del Mar was Irene Macedo, a client of Casa de Amparo’s New Directions program in Oceanside, which serves former foster youth with transitional shelter and services.
