Members sworn in on school board

New Rancho Santa Fe School Board member Jim Cimino served at his first meeting on Dec. 11.

The November election for the district lacked drama in that there were no challengers to the three open seats and therefore no election was held.

With little fanfare, Cimino took over for Ty Miller, who stepped down and incumbents Jim Depolo and Richard Burdge were sworn in for another three years.

Superintendent Lindy Delaney thanked Miller for his “incredible” four years of service. She credited Miller for pushing to resurface the new gym floor and for the new Rowe to be as great as possible.

“It was a privilege to serve and be a part of this community,” said Miller. “I’m glad that Mr. Cimino is stepping in here, he’s well qualified.”

Miller was a unique member of the board as he is a Rowe graduate.

At the Dec. 11 meeting, the board also voted on their new officers. Carlie Headapohl was named president, former president Richard Burdge was named vice president and Depolo was named clerk.

Former clerk Scot Cheatham had expressed an interest in renewing his post but Depolo won out in the end.

As the clerk is the second signature on eighth grade diplomas, Depolo wanted the gig so he could be the signature on his upcoming graduates’ awards.
