Opening Day Block Party to be held in Del Mar July 13

A celebration of Opening Day at the Del Mar Race Track, and a fundraiser and Block Party, will be held on Saturday, July 13, from noon-5 p.m. at 1414 Camino Del Mar St. in Del Mar.

Participants can shop for their outfits for Opening Day, July 17, and the beach and track summer season 2013. Julie’s Beachwear will be displaying gorgeous sundresses from Hollywood’s favorite brand, Michelle Jonas and Charleston Shoes for the track. Additionally; there will be a raffle for Jay Leno tickets and tickets to the After the Finish Line fundraiser at the Del Mar Hilton on Aug. 1. Body Wraps are being offered for $25 and all Boys and Arrows bikinis will be 20 percent off.

The event will also include: Trunk shows by Chan Luu jewelry at Sundancer and Jose Louis leather goods at Durante’s. Live band Vlady Varovinsky and Yael Gauach will be playing Brazilian and blues eclectic music, amazing Peruvian and picnic food and empanadas from Secret Pantry and Café Secret, and tea sandwiches, healthy snacks and ethnic delights by Yosel of Date Catering (858-997-9443).

Dirty Tequila (www.dirtytequila.com), pineapple and cinnamon-infused margaritas will be served at Bully’s, with all proceeds going to After The Finish Line, a Del Mar/Rancho Santa Fe charity to fund organizations who rescue and rehabilitate thoroughbred race horses (www.afterthefinishline.org). Love the majesty and beauty of thoroughbreds at the races? Help rescue these incredible equine athletes who can no longer race or breed (the horse meat market is not a myth). ATFL, partners with organizations and farms who help transition these horses to a second careers as: a polo ponies, therapy horses for children with autism, show horses, hunter or jumper/dressage or an amazing pet.
