Micah Parzen, a La Jolla native and graduate of La Jolla High School, has been hired to head the San Diego Museum of Man in Balboa Park.

Parzen, 40, now lives in Point Loma with his wife, Marguerite, and two young sons. He is an employment attorney and partner at Luce Forward, and will begin his new museum job on Aug. 9.

In addition to earning a law degree from UC Davis in 2002, Parzen earned a Ph.D. in anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in 2000.

Parzen was chosen from a national search and is charged with reinventing the region’s only museum of anthropology and archaeology.

In announcing the move, board of trustees chair Justice Richard Huffman stated, “We are thrilled to bring Dr. Parzen on as our new executive director. The Board of Trustees looks forward to partnering with him to revitalize the museum in the years to come.”
