Patriotic bike parade proudly circles park

The Del Mar Foundation sponsored its Annual July 4th Decorated Bike Parade on Independence Day at Powerhouse Park. Mayor Richard Earnest, Deputy Mayor Don Mosier and Del Mar City Council members Carl Hilliard and Crystal Crawford served as grand marshals. Dressed as “Uncle Sam,” Tom McGreal served as flag bearer as hundreds of kids, dogs and families proudly marched around Powerhouse Park to live patriotic music supplied by Hullabaloo, featuring Steve Denyes on guitar and Brendan Kremer on the box drum.

Kim Filanc and Sandra Hoyle served as co-chairs of the 2010 parade. Following the parade, Master of Ceremonies Bill Michalsky announced the many categories for which ribbons were awarded, including best bike, scooter, wagon, decorated dog, hat and costume for various age groups. The children were treated to lemonade and snacks, and members of the Del Mar Fire Department gave tours of the fire engine and passed our fire hats.
