‘Pawsitively’ good time at Paws in the Park event
The third annual Paws in the Park will be held at La Colonia Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15.
Pets on leashes and their people are invited to “pawticipate” in an action-packed day of exhibitions and activities hosted by the Solana Beach Parks and Recreation Commission.
Tail-wagging favorites are back, including flyball relay races, flying disc dog demonstrations and contests. The event and all activities are free.
New features this year include free pet caricatures as well as pup- and kitty-cake decorating, and Bernese Mountain dog-carting demonstration and rides. The Canine Cafe will serve hotdogs, hamburgers and garden burgers to raise funds for the children’s Surf Soccer League.
“It’s just a really fun day for the whole family,” said Gerri Retman, commission chair.
Trainers, practitioners, groomers, sitters, artists and photographers will be on site to share their expertise and services.
“There is always something new to learn about pet care, nutrition or training,” Retman said.
The albino python and other exotic animals will also return to The Discovery Table. And of course, the day would not be complete without animals up for adoption finding good homes.
The Neuter Scooter will also perform low-cost spay and neutering operations for cats, dogs and rabbits. However, appointments are required in advance.
