Playwrights Project at Powerhouse

On Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m., the Playwrights Project will present “The Best Mistake” by Jim Knable, at the Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center. This production is being underwritten by the Del Mar Foundation and will be a free performance.

“The Best Mistake” is the story of Becky, an A student, who discovers that her accomplished and adventurous father can barely read. With the help of her boyfriend, Will, and a high school production of “Hamlet,” she tries to figure out how to help her father. The play deals with the complex issue of learning disabilities with humor and a cast of memorable characters. Following the performance, learning specialists and experts in related fields will lead a discussion of the issues raised by the play.

The Mission of Playwrights Project is to promote literacy, creativity, and communication through drama-based activities, with an emphasis on inspiring youth and seniors.

The Mission of the Del Mar Foundation is to promote civic pride and cohesiveness, acquire and preserve open space, improve beaches and parklands, raise and grant funds, and sponsor diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar.
