Prescription drug take back at fairgrounds Saturday
To curb the problem of easy access to prescription medication, a factor in the increasing addiction to painkillers, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is hosting a countywide drug take back.
On Monday, the county announced the launch of the Oxy Task Force. The group and other county agencies will host the take back at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, among other sites throughout the county, on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bring back your unused prescriptions for safe destruction. Prescription drug experts will also be on hand to answer questions about prevention and treatment.
“We want to spread the word and encourage the citizens of San Diego to take a proactive approach to this problem by dropping off their unused or unwanted prescription drugs,” a release from Pam Slater-Prices’ office said. “Oxy Task Force partners, including prevention and treatment groups, will be on hand at each location to offer information to attendees.”
