Prom dress drive gives teens with cancer something to celebrate
The Friends of Scott Foundation is holding a prom dress drive that is intended to help young girls with cancer enjoy that special night without having to break the bank.
The 2009 Prom Dress Drive runs from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Women are urged to donate the formal dresses they once wore and that now hang in the back of the closet or are kept in storage. They’re asking for donations of accessories such as purses and wrap and are also accepting monetary donations.
-dresses must be relatively new, from 2002 to present
-they need to be clean and on hangers
-prom dresses, formal gowns, party dresses or bridesmaid dresses will be accepted
-all dresses need to be received by April 1, 2009
The drive ends on Feb. 28 but donations will still be accepted until April 1.
Friends of Scott provides support and advocacy to children and families suffering from cancer. The foundation was created in the memory of Scott Delgadillo. His mother, Carmen, saw first-hand how devastating cancer is for young people. The mission of the foundation is to ensure that children and their families get the emotional and financial support needed to cope with the disease.
