RSF Incorporation measure draws strong turnout
An initiative to limit the Rancho Santa Fe Association’s involvement in future incorporation efforts has elicited high turnout in a community-wide vote.
More the 1,100 ballots had been submitted by the first week of November, with voting open until Monday, Nov. 17.
This represents 56 percent of the eligible voters in the association. General Manager Pete Smith said he expected to reach 60 percent by the deadline, which is on par with a Board of Director’s election.
The measure proposes to change the association’s bylaws to limit the Board of Directors from initiating or pursing cityhood, or authorizing any incorporation-related expenditures, without prior approval from the community.
Ballots were mailed mid-October to all registered voters, and must be turned in (not just postmarked) to the association office by Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. The result will be announced Nov. 18.
