SDJA’s butterfly project brought to L.A. museum

The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles included the San Diego Jewish Academy’s Butterfly Project, the Remembrance and Hope project, or Zikaron V’Tikvah, in its Holocaust Remembrance Day activities in late April.

More than 350 butterflies, painted by museumgoers, are the start to a permanent display on a wall in the museum’s education wing.

This display will be part of the academy’s goal of creating a Web-based display showcasing such installations worldwide, which they hope will total 1.5 million butterflies, representing the Jewish children who were killed in the Holocaust.
