SDJA’s ‘Walk to End Genocide’

In collaboration with Jewish World Watch, San Diego Jewish Academy held a Walk to End Genocide April 22, which was organized by a group of 9th and 10th grade students. The walk was held to raise awareness about the mass atrocities occurring in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. A group of San Diego Jewish Academy (SDJA) students formed an End Genocide Club two years ago after learning about the genocides occurring in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo in a Judaics class.

The club originally started selling rubber bracelets with the statement “Decide to End Genocide” to raise funds for the victims of genocide in Africa. The group then began seeking other ways to further its mission and decided to hold a Walk to End Genocide and approached the Jewish World Watch for support. With April being Genocide Awareness Month, the group began promoting and organizing the walk to raise awareness, hope and funds to help the survivors of genocide. Visit www.sdja.com
