SDPD closely monitoring spring break activity

Spring break continues for another two weeks and crowds have been well behaved. Several saturation patrols have taken place during the first four weeks of spring break and another one is planned for Friday, April 3, 2009.

Saturation patrols consist of officers “saturating” an area in an effort to locate those who are driving under the influence or committing other violations.

A command post will be located at 1100 Garnet Avenue (corner of Dawes Street) and will be operational between 6:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. Uniformed and plainclothes officers will be in the area in patrol cars and on foot.

Officers from Northern Division have worked with bar managers and the community to ensure everyone has a safe spring break by deterring problems, swiftly responding to the needs of the public and to arrest violators who break the law.
