A thief used a demand note to rob a North County bank Wednesday afternoon.

The bandit, who appeared to be in his mid-30s, presented the written message to a teller at the Citibank branch in the 700 block of Lomas Santa Fe Drive about 1:15 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Jim Walker said.

The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the robber, who walked out of the office and fled the area in a black Toyota 4Runner, heading north on Interstate 5, according to Walker.

Witnesses said the thief was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed roughly 160 pounds.
