Bomb squad checks suspicious device in Solana Beach
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance at 9:40 a.m. Dec. 5 behind 325 North Highway 101 in Solana Beach. The reporting party stated he smelled the odor of gasoline coming from an enclosed cement dumpster area. Deputies arrived at the scene and smelled gasoline. They requested the fire department to respond. After the fire department arrived and evaluated the item, it was decided to call Sheriff’s Bomb Arson. The road behind 325 N. Highway 101 was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic until Bomb Arson arrived to evaluate the situation. Bomb Arson was able to render the item safe. No evacuations were necessary. Bomb Arson will be handling the follow-up investigation.
