Students spend summer at Salk

Several area students were among those who spent their summer in the Salk Institute’s High School Enrichment Program, where they were involved with a full-time research project as well as enrichment activities. At the end of the program, they presented their findings to mentors, lab members and families. Among those in the program were Chelsea Gelboin-Burkhart, who graduated in June from La Jolla High, first on left; Susanna Fenstermacher, a Torrey Pines graduate, fourth from left; Olivia Gardner, who will be a junior at Santa Fe Christian, fifth from left; Barbara Varsanofieva, a senior at Canyon Crest Academy, fifth from right; and Lucia Wang, a Torrey Pines senior, second from left.
