Teen drug, alcohol seminar upcoming

The San Dieguito Union High School District’s Recovery Education Alcohol Drug Instruction program, known as READI, is holding a parent seminar on Oct. 20 to help parents learn about drug and alcohol use trends and potential legal consequences.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. at La Costa Canyon High School theater, 1 Maverick Way in Carlsbad.

The guest speaker will be Anthony Jucenas, a Carlsbad police officer. Parenting expert Fred Becker will follow with an open discussion on how parents can work with their children toward preventing their involvement with drugs and alcohol.

The event is open to students and parents, and information will be provided in English and Spanish.
