Torrey Pines Bulldogs wrap up season

The Torrey Pines Bulldogs 14 and under AAU basketball team finished the 2010 winter and spring seasons with an overall record of 42-12. The team was made up of seventh- and eighth-graders from the Carmel Valley, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe areas. The Bulldogs competed this spring in both a 14U eighth-grade league in San Marcos and a Junior Varsity league at Alliant University, going 20-3 and winning both league championships over the last two weeks.

Jack Beach led the team in scoring with an average of 10.8 points per game and shot 45 percent from the three-point line, connecting on 118 shots from long distance. Sam Worman and Charles Bieler led the team in rebounding with 8.9 and 6.7 rebounds per game respectively, with Worman also scoring 10 points per game. Zack Wagner led the team in both assists (3.6) and steals (4.6) per game. Tommy McCarthy averaged 10.8 points while playing in 24 games during the season, and coming up big with 18 points per game over the three final games.

Other team members who played pivotal roles throughout the year were Brady Twombly, Drew DeFrancesco, Adam Sloane, Dominic Hovasse and Patrick Fisher.
