Weather temps cooling

A significant change in San Diego County’s weather is going to begin today with slightly cooler temperatures, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service said upper low pressure will move through southwest California Saturday into Sunday, bringing with it the first chance of widespread rain to coastal areas since last spring.

There is also a possibility of rain in all other areas of the county, except for the lower deserts, according to NWS forecasters, who projected rainfall amounts between .10 near the coast and .20 inches in the mountains.

If the rain materializes - the chance of measurable weekend precipitation as of this morning stood at 20 percent during the day Saturday and 40 percent Saturday night -- it may be accompanied by strong, gusty winds exceeding 45 miles per hour in the mountains and deserts through Sunday, forecasters said.

Daytime temperatures through the county will average about 10 degrees below normal Sunday, according to the weather service.
