From one day to the next it is a different player who steps up to lead Cathedral Catholic’s scoring efforts.
And it doesn’t seem to matter much who it is that happens to carry the bulk of the load on any given day.
The storyline remains the same, and that’s good news for the Dons, who extended their winning streak to nine games with a resounding 68-27 Western League victory over Mission Bay on Jan. 18.
Xavier Williams scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Dons in the Mission Bay game.
Michael Rosenburg added 11 points and Niksha Federico added 10 points.
In the Lincoln game, Nick Prunty led the Dons with 31 points.
Brandon Michel added 17 points and Williams and Federico contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.
The Dons improved to 5-0 in league and 17-2 overall for the season.
Torrey Pines split its first two Palomar League games.
The Falcons defeated Westview 61-49 in a league opener for both teams on Jan. 16, but they lost to Mt. Carmel 61-53 two days later.
Dominic Hovasse scored 15 points to lead the Falcons in the Westview game and Chris Kurylo added 11 points.
Sam Worman scored 13 points to lead the Falcons in the Mt. Carmel game and Jack Beach added 10 points.
The Falcons fell to 11-7 overall for the season.
Santa Fe Christian defeated La Jolla Country Day 70-43 in a Coastal League game on Jan. 18.
Grant Corsi scored 23 points to lead the Eagles and Justin Byrd added 18 points. Brian Finley contributed 11 points.
The victory followed a 34-33 league loss to Francis Parker three days earlier in which Corsi led the Eagles with 13 points.
The Eagles improved to 2-1 in league and 12-5 overall for the season.
San Diego Jewish Academy lost to Rock Academy 54-38 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 17.
Judah Rosenzweig scored 18 points to lead the Lions and Ilan Graubart added 10 points.
The Lions fell to 1-5 in league and 4-7 overall for the season.
Cathedral Catholic extended its winning streak to six games as the first place Dons defeated Mission Bay 76-49 in an Eastern League game on Jan. 18.
Juliet Jones scored 15 points and had 12 assists to lead the Dons and Haley Syroka added 13 points.
Wendy Anae contributed 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Kendall Fisher added 10 points.
The Dons improved to 5-0 in league and 10-6 overall for the season.
Santa Fe Christian found itself on opposite sides of lopsided scores in the span of three days.
The Eagles experienced a 63-19 defeat at the hands of perennial state power La Jolla Country Day in a Coastal League game on Jan. 18. Three days earlier the Eagles trounced Francis Parker 61-11 in league game.
Makenna White and Jessi Moore each scored five points to lead the Eagles in the LJCD game.
Megan Franke scored 18 points to lead the Eagles in the Parker game.
Maile Burtech and Erin Moody added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles fell to 1-2 in league and 10-8 overall for the season.
Torrey Pines’ skid continued as the Falcons opened Palomar League play with two losses.
A 65-45 loss at the hands of Mt. Carmel on Jan 18 extended their losing streak to six games.
The Falcons lost to Westview 68-45 in a league game two days earlier.
Christina Ellis scored 16 points and had six rebounds, four blocks and seven steals to lead the Falcons in the Mt. Carmel game. Madison Lombard added 11 points.
Lombard scored 17 points to lead the Falcons in the Westview game and Ellis added 11 points.
The Falcons fell to 0-2 in league and 7-10 overall for the season.
Cathedral Catholic defeated Scripps Ranch 1-0 in a nonleague game on Jan. 18.
Mikaela Kraus scored the Dons’ only goal off assists from Lindy Porritt and Shelby Cormier.
Dons goalie Hanna Macaulay was credited with the shutout.
The Dons improved to 14-3-3 overall for the season.

Isabella Hasson and Kayla McGuinness each scored one goal to lead the Eagles.
Cathedral Catholic went 2-0 at America’s Finest City Tournament at Coronado High on Jan. 18.
Makana Edwards scored six goals to lead the Dons to a 14-4 victory over Lewisville.
The Dons also defeated Costa 8-7 in overtime.
