Football:

• Santa Fe Christian

extended its winning streak to three games as the Eagles opened Coastal League play with a decisive 27-7 victory over Francis Parker on Oct. 10.

Benton Weeks rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries as the Eagles rolled up 335 yards of total offense.

Carter Roberts rushed for 64 yards and one score on 10 carries and was one for four passing for 12 yards with no interceptions.

Matthew McRoskey completed a 50-yard scoring pass to Caleb Phillips.

Kevin Loney led the Eagles defensively with nine tackles and Phillips added seven tackles.

The Eagles improved their overall record for the season to 3-3.

Cathedral Catholic

opened Eastern League play with a 63-7 victory over Scripps Ranch as the Dons extended their winning streak to six games.

Adam Eastwood scored three rushing touchdowns and quarterback Clayton Dale rushed for one touchdown and threw for another to lead the route.

The Dons led 14-0 in the first quarter when Eastwood’s 53-yard scoring run broke the game open.

The Dons improved to 6-1 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines

defeated Carlsbad 21-14 in an Avocado League West game on Oct. 10.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 3-3.

La Costa Canyon

had its four-game winning streak snapped as the Mavericks experienced a 9-5 loss to El Camino in an Avocado League West opener for both team on Oct. 10.

The Mavericks fell to 4-2 overall for the season.

Volleyball:

Cathedral Catholic

went 2-2 at the California Challenge tournament.

Lauren Woodard had 13 kills, and Lexi Dorn and Jeni Clark contributed 14 and 12 assists, respectively, to lead the Dons to a 2-1 (25-21, 24-26, 17-15) victory over San Dieguito Academy on Oct. 10.

Karina Langli had 11 kills in defeat for SDA, and Lindsey King and Megan Scherer contributed 17 and 11 assists, respectively.

Lexi Dorn had eight kills and Woodard had seven kills to lead the Dons in a 2-0 (25-22, 25-22) victory over San Clemente later in the day.

Clark and Dorn had 13 and eight assists, respectively.

• Earlier in the week the

Dons

defeated Our Lady of the Peace 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) in an Oct. 7 Western League match in which Woodard had 10 kills, Dorn added eight kills and Madison Linxwiller contributed seven kills.

The Dons dropped a league match to Scripps Ranch 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-19) to Scripps Ranch on Oct. 8.

Woodard led the Dons with 20 kills and Dorn added 11 kills.

The Dons improved to 4-2 in league and 10-9 overall for the season.

San Dieguito Academy

went 1-4 at the California Challenge Varsity tournament.

The Mustangs defeated Rim of the World (Lake Arrowhead) 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) for their lone tourney win.

The Mustangs went into the tournament after defeating San Marcos 3-1 (25-19, 25-7, 23-25, 25-13) in an Avocado League East match on Oct. 8.

Emily Kimball and Sarah Colla each had 14 kills to lead the Mustangs.

King and Scherer contributed 27 and 16 assists, respectively.

The Mustangs improved to 2-0 in league and 16-9 overall for the season.

Field hockey:

Torrey Pines

defeated

Canyon Crest Academy

4-3 in a Palomar League opener for both teams on Oct. 9.

Alayna Tomlinson and Farah Farjood each scored two goals to lead the Falcons.

Samantha “Sammy” Cirino added one goal and one assist.

Rayna Higuchi scored one goal and had one assist in defeat for the Ravens.

Allie Ma and Kragen Metz each added one goal.

Ravens goalie Madi McIntyre had eight saves.

The Falcons earlier in the week defeated Rancho Buena Vista 3-2 in a nonleague game.

Cirino scored two goals to lead the Falcons. Clare Young added one goal and Gabi Jimenez contributed two assists.

Falcons goalie Jaden Watkins had nine saves.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 10-5.

Cathedral Catholic

defeated

Canyon Crest Academy

2-1 in a nonleague game on Oct. 7.

Peyton Mowery scored one goal and had one assist, and Kate Bieraugel added one goal to lead the Dons.

Dons goalie Kate Miller had 14 saves.

Metz scored CCA’s only goal.

The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 13-5-1.

The Ravens fell to 7-6 overall for the season.
