Boys basketball:

Torrey Pines extended its winning streak to 15 games as the Falcons defeated Army Navy 45-40 in a San Diego Section Open Division quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

Jacob Gilliam scored 12 points and Jackson Strong added 10 points.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 24-4.

Cathedral Catholic defeated Poway 70-54 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

Brandon McCoy scored 22 points to lead the Dons. Austin Beech and Je'von Figaro added 18 and 11 points, respectively.

The Dons improved to 19-5 overall for the season.

Santa Fe Christian upset La Costa Canyon 55-54 in a first-round Division I playoff game on Feb. 24.

The Eagles were the No. 11 seed, and LCC was seeded sixth.

The Eagles lost in the quarterfinals, 80-46 to No. 3 San Marcos.

 Girls basketball:

Torrey Pines defeated Mount Miguel 65-58 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 26.

Sierra Campisano led the Falcons with 31 points, 20 rebounds, eight blocks and five steals.

Isabella Hoang added 18 points and six steals and Rachel Shen contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

The Falcons, who had a first round bye, won for the fifth straight game and for the ninth time in their last 10 games.

They improved their overall record for the season 22-6.

La Costa Canyon defeated West Hills 53-44 in a Division I playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 26.

The victory followed a 59-42 first-round win against San Marcos on Feb. 24.

The Mavericks improved to 22-8 overall for the season.

Cathedral Catholic lost to Mater Dei Catholic 57-40 in a Division I playoff opening round game on Feb. 23.

The Dons fell to 7-19 overall for the season.

Girls soccer:

Cathedral Catholic left nothing to chance in their playoff opener.

The Dons trounced Eastlake 8-1 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 23.

Sunny Dunphy scored two goals and had three assists and Olivia Erlbeck scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Dons.

Madison Mercado scored one goal and had two assists and Dana Dalton, Audrey Hegardt and Emily Sanchez each added one goal.

Mikayla Kappes contributed one assist.

The Dons improved to 21-3-3 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines defeated Rancho Buena Vista 4-2 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 23.

Daniela Nelson scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Falcons.

Amber McCorkle and Sofia Beyer each added one goal and Allie Omens contributed one assist.

Falcons goalie Sherrie Antoun had six saves.

The Falcons improved to 14-1-5 overall for the season.

La Costa Canyon defeated Steele Canyon 6-0 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 23.

Hayley Mayne scored four goals and had one assist to lead the Mavericks.

Danielle Goad added one goal and three assists.

Kelsey Aaknes contributed one goal and Kalie Kampfl had one assist.

The Mavericks improved their overall record for the season to 17-2-4.

Santa Fe Christian lost to West Hills 3-0 in a Division II playoff game on Feb. 26.

The loss followed a 1-0 first-round victory over El Camino on Feb. 23 in which Angela Gunness scored the game's only goal.

Eagles goalie Kat Miro (12 saves) was credited with the shutout.  

The Eagles fell to 13-5 overall for the season.

   Boys soccer:

Cathedral Catholic defeated Scripps Rancho 2-1 in an Open Division play-in game on Feb. 24.

Andrew Kieszewski and Travis Schaniel each scored one goal and Devon Granieri contributed one assist to lead the Dons.

The Dons improved to 12-6-2 overall for the season.

Canyon Crest Academy defeated Chula Vista 2-0 in a Division I quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

Sophomore Michael Avila scored two goals to lead the Ravens.

The Ravens improved to 10-11-2 overall for the season.
