Youth Care Club members to host Talent Show in Carmel Valley
The Youth Care Club (YCC) of American Chinese Cultural & Educational Foundation will host its annual Talent Show featuring music and dance performances at Harvest Evangelical Church in Carmel Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 1.
The donation from the YCC Talent Show will be used to help underprivileged students in poor villages in China. The YCC Talent Show has been an annual charity event for several years and is an amazing showcase of the local students’ artistry in classic music, Chinese traditional music, modern and traditional Chinese folk dances, vocal performances, and martial arts. Some of the student musicians and dancers are internationally and nationally award-winning artists.
YCC currently has more than 200 members from 12 local high schools and middle schools in San Diego. YCC members organize various fund-raising events each year to help poor students in rural China. Many school-age children are not able to attend high schools simply because they cannot afford the tuitions. The YCC Talent Show is held each summer and YCC students reach out to local business enterprises, organizations and individuals for donations to sponsor this event.
“The talent show is a wonderful way to spread awareness to the community,” noted Joy Shen, a senior at CCA, one of the organizers of this year’s Talent Show, “All the participants and volunteers have a great time while raising money to help students in China receive the opportunity to continue their education.”
This summer, the YCC students hope to raise sufficient money to support two Chinese high school students for their annual tuitions and school expenses for books and supplies.
The YCC students are actively involved in many community services, including Feeding America, Father Joe’s can food drive, Thanksgiving dinner and Holiday meal services, San Diego Children’s Film Festival, Balboa Park International Food Festival, and Senior House music performances.
This year’s YCC Talent Show is free to the public and will be held between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Harvest Evangelical Church, 13885 El Camino Real, San Diego, CA 92130. For more information, please call (858)519-7059.
