Zable rings opening bell with Cubic
Walter C. Zable, a Del Mar resident and Cubic Corp. vice president, joined others to celebrate 50 years as a publicly traded company by ringing the ceremonial opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on March 5.
Cubic is part of the S&P 500 and the Space and Defense Index, and has outperformed other companies in this index, according to a recent release from the company.
The company went public in 1959. At that time it raised $1.2 million dollars and had $5 million in annual sales. Today, Cubic employs 7,000 people at 130 locations worldwide. The company’s financial shares in 2008 were $881 million.
Cubic specializes in the transit business and defense systems development.
