Zenyatta pulls off perfection

Zenyatta’s record is now 12-for-12 as the 5-year-old mare got up in the final strides to win the Grade I Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 9 by a head over long shot Anabaa’s Creation. Lethal Heat was third. Ridden by her regular rider, Mike Smith, the heavily favored Zenyatta covered the 1 1/16 miles on the Polytrack in 1:43.24. The reigning champion older female is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained by John Shirreffs.
