Dean Ween Group plays Belly Up on Sept. 20
The Dean Ween Group will make a stop at The Belly Up in Solana Beach on Thursday, Sept. 20 as part of its End O’ Summer Tour to celebrate the release of its sophomore album, “rock2.”
For more than 30 years, Dean Ween has been best known as the guitar-slinging partner of Gene Ween in the igenre defying experimental band Ween. Dean and Gene formed Ween as middle-school students in 1984 and released nine studio albums and six live albums before going on hiatus in 2012. The group reunited in 2016 and have been regularly performing live since.
The new album “rock2” was released worldwide earlier this year by Schnitzel Records as limited editions of 180 gram colored vinyl and specially colored CD as well as via digital retailers and streaming services. The album features Ween’s winking, sense of humor and eye-popping, Zappa-esque approach to the guitar and boasts funky joints like “Showstopper” and country jams like “Don’t Let The Moon Catch You Crying”.
