Joe Magrisi, a senior on the Torrey Pines High School baseball team, was recently named the Cal-Hi Sports Southern California Baseball Player of the Week. In his first year at Torrey Pines after transferring from Rancho Bernardo High School, the right-handed pitcher and slugger has helped the Falcons crack the State Top 20 for the first time this season.
Joe’s week included a 3-1 victory over Mission Hills with eight strikeouts. He followed that up by pitching the final three innings of an 11-10 victory over CIF San Diego Section No. 1 San Marcos and only gave up one hit while striking out five. He was also 2-for-5 with two RBI in the San Marcos win. In seven starts, Joe is 7-0 with a 0.57 ERA and 60 strikeouts with a mere three walks in 49 innings pitched.
In a 10-0 victory over Carlsbad on April 17, Joe pitched seven innings, ringing up seven Lancers and allowing just one hit. At the plate, Joe had a home run and 3 RBI. — Report by Cal-Hi Sports, Karen Billing
