Local martial arts group medals at World Championship

A martial arts group from the Ocean Air Recreation Center made an impressive showing at the 2018 World Tang Soo Do Association World Championship in Greensboro, NC.

A group of 31 competitors and family members from Coastal Canyon Tang Soo Do joined over 1,600 competitors from around the world. The 18 competing participants brought home an impressive 24 medals, with special achievement by Christina Wooden who tied for the overall Champion Cup in the Female Youth Black Belt division.

This Torrey Hills crew also participated in a variety of creativity demonstrations, including one with some 500 female competitors – thought to be the largest demonstration by a group of female martial artists on record.
