Football:

Cathedral Catholic remained unbeaten as Shawn Poma rushed for 228 yards and four touchdowns (both career highs) on 13 carries to lead the Dons to their eighth straight victory, 37-17 over Point Loma in a Western League game on Oct. 21.The win was the Dons' eighth straight to start the season.

Poma had never rushed for more than 100 yards going into the his most recent game.Dons quarterback Tate Haynes completed 4 of 6 pass attempts for 106 yards. The Dons combined for 388 yards of total offense.

Jack Cavellier had eight tackles and 1 1/2 sacks to lead the Dons defensively. Justin Clement had eight tackles and one sack and Miles McCormick had six tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.Colin Myers had one interception.   

The Dons improved to 2-0 in league and 8-0 overall for the season. Santa Fe Christian defeated Horizon Christian Academy 63-20 in a Coastal League game on Oct. 21.

The Eagles  backfield-by-committee combined for 392 rushing yards without a 100-yard rusher as SFC rolled up 504 yards of total offense.

Josh Thompson rushed for 86 yards on three carries and Kevin Loney scored on a 56-yard run to lead the Eagles.Demitri Washington rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns and Hank Ontiveros rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.

Caleb Phillips led the Eagles defensively with 11 tackles and one interception. Eagles quarterback Connor Whitton completed 3 of 5 pass attempts for 112 yards including a 65-yard scoring strike to Jeff Linguadoca.The Eagles improved to 2-1 in league and 6-2 overall for the season.

 La Costa Canyon defeated San Marcos 38-21 in an Avocado League West game on Oct. 21.The Dons scored twice in the last two minutes to seal the victory.

Mavericks quarterback Tanner Clark threw for one touchdown and rushed for another to lead the Mavericks.Clark completed a 26-yard scoring pass to Brett Pueschel and scored on a 13-yard run with just under two minutes left in the game.

Christian Estrella scored on a 43-yard interception return on San Marcos' next possession.

The Mavericks improved to 3-1 in league and 5-3 overall for the season. 

Volleyball:

15) in a Coastal League match on Oct. 21. Lexi Sun had 16 kills and Kathleen Philo had 31 assists to lead the Eagles.

Sara Jones and Emily Hubbard each added six kills.The Eagles defeated La Jolla Country Day 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-15) in a league match on Oct. 18 in which Hubbard had 13 kills, Sun had 10 kills and 13 digs.

Nicolina Duhs had 22 assists and Philo had 13 assists.The Eagles the next day defeated Francis Parker 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-16) in a league match in which Sun had 12 kills and Hubbard had nine kills.

Philo had 25 assists and Duhs had 11 assists.The Eagles improved to 8-0 in league and 25-7 overall for the season. San Dieguito Academy defeated Sage Creek 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17) in an Avocado League West game on Oct. 18.Sarah Colla had 15 kills and Kiani Kerstetter had 18 digs to lead the Mustangs.The Mustangs improved to 2-6 in league and 24-9 overall for the season. 

Cathedral Catholic defeated Great Oak (Temecula) 3-1 in a Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions match on Oct. 22.Shaney Lipscomb had 14 kills to lead the Dons and Megan Faraimo and Brennan Wilhite each added nine kills.

The Dons defeated Patrick Henry 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-15) in a Western League game three days earlier.The Dons improved to 8-0 in league and 21-8 overall for the season. 

Field hockey:

La Costa Canyon defeated Torrey Pines 5-0 in an Avocado League West game on Oct. 20.C.J. Jones scored one goal and had two assists and Kendall Nicholas scored one goal and had one assist to lead the Mavericks.

Mavericks goalie Marina Keller had one save.Falcons goalie Jaden Watkins had three saves.The victory followed a 6-0 league victory over Fallbrook three days earlier in which Lindsay Fessinger and Jones each scored two goals and had two assists.The Mavericks improved to 4-1 in league and 16-4 overall for the season. 

Canyon Crest Academy defeated Torrey Pines 1-0 in a league game on Oct. 18.Blake Zimmer scored the game's only goal to lead the Ravens and goalie Miranda Siperstein-Rafner had three saves.The Ravens improved to 4-0 in league and 9-5 overall for the season.

The Falcons fell to 2-2 in league and 9-9-1 overall for the season.  Water polo:Cathedral Catholic defeated La Jolla 11-5 in a Western League match on Oct. 18.Conway Cleary and Dennis Blyashov each scored four goals to lead the Dons.The Dons improved to 2-1 in league.
