The week in sports: Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach

Boys basketball:

Torrey Pines is more than a month removed from having its 10-game season-opening winning streak snapped with two consecutive losses at the Under Armour Holiday Classic that the Falcons hosted.

The Falcons haven’t lost since.

They extended their winning streak to 11 games with an 81-63 Palomar League victory Jan. 30 over Canyon Crest Academy.

Jackson Strong scored 18 points to lead the Falcons. Jack Beach added 13 points and five rebounds, and Dominic Hovasse added 12 points.

The victory followed a 69-40 league win against Poway on Jan. 28 in which Beach and Marek Sullivan each scored 14 points to lead the Falcons and Hovasse added 12 points.

The Falcons improved to 4-0 in league and 21-2 overall for the season.

La Costa Canyon, considered among the top teams in the county after a 10-1 start, lost a bit of its luster after stumbling into Avocado League West play having lost five of its previous seven games.

But the Mavericks have their mojo back after opening league with three straight wins.

Their most recent victory was a 62-24 shellacking of Carlsbad on Jan. 30, in which Brady Twombly scored 19 points to lead the Mavericks and Travis Fuller added 11 points.

That win followed a 68-49 victory over Rancho Buena Vista three days earlier.

The Mavericks improved to 3-0 in league and 15-6 overall for the season.

Cathedral Catholic defeated St. Augustine 58-54 in a Western League game on Jan. 30.

Reid Johnson scored 14 points to lead the Dons and Austin Beech and Cameron Moore added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The victory followed a 62-49 league win against La Jolla on Jan. 27.

The Dons improved to 5-2 in league and 12-7 overall for the season.

San Diego Jewish Academy lost to Pacific Ridge 57-39 in a nonleague game on Jan. 27.

Jordan Battaglia scored 12 points and had six rebounds and four steals to lead the Lions and Aaron Perez added eight points, five rebounds and three steals.

The Lions fell to 6-12 overall for the season.

Girls basketball:

Cathedral Catholic extended its winning streak to seven games as the Dons defeated Our Lady of the Peace, 65-35, in a Western League game on Jan. 30.

Sarah Mosser scored 22 points to lead the Dons, and Sydney Nornes and Amy Wikle each added 11 points.

The victory followed a 59-37 league win against La Jolla, in which Alaina Alvarez led the Dons with 14 points. Mosser added 13 points.

The Dons improved to 7-0 in league and 14-7 overall for the season.

La Costa Canyon defeated Carlsbad 78-54 in an Avocado League West game on Jan. 30.

Taylor Pierce scored 27 points to lead the Mavericks, and Kelly Reed and Rachel Dumiak added 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The victory followed an 83-56 league win against Rancho Buena Vista on Jan. 27 in which Jessica Curtis led the Mavericks with 18 points.

Dumiak and Cassie Amundson each added 16 points, and Reed and Pierce contributed 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Mavericks improved to 3-0 in league and 17-4 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines defeated Canyon Crest Academy 62-25 in a Palomar League game on Jan. 30.

Sierra Campisano scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds, seven steals and five blocks to lead the Falcons.

Christina Ellis added 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The victory followed a 65-60 league win against Poway on Jan. 28 in which Campisano led the Falcons with 24 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks, and Ellis added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The Falcons improved to 3-1 in league and 14-7 overall for the season.

Girls soccer:

Cathedral Catholic defeated Patrick Henry 3-2 in a Western League game on Jan. 30.

Sunny Dunphy scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Dons.

Bianca Caetano scored one goal, and Jessica Clegg and Niamh Nelson each added one assist.

The victory followed a 3-1 league win against La Jolla on Jan. 28 in which Dana Dalton led the Dons with two goals and Mikayla Kappes added one goal.

Clegg, Nelson and Alyssa Fiddes each contributed one assist.

The Dons improved to 4-0 in league and 17-2-2 overall for the season.

Santa Fe Christian defeated Horizon Christian Academy 6-0 in a Coastal League game on Jan. 30.

Kristen Cole scored three goals and had one assist to lead the Eagles and Angela Gunness and Ali Whiting each added one goal and one assist.

Erin Vandertie had two saves.

The victory followed a 3-2 league win against Bishop’s on Jan. 28 in which Hollie Pelland scored two goals to lead the Eagles and Whiting added one goal.

The Eagles improved to 6-0-1 in league and 10-1-1 overall for the season.
