The week in sports: Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach

Boys basketball:

Torrey Pines clinched a Palomar League championship as the Falcons defeated Poway 74-49 on Feb. 13.

The victory was the Falcons’ 15th straight, going back to the Under Armour Holiday Classic in December.

Jack Beach scored 23 points to lead the Falcons and Dominic Hovasse added 17 points.

The victory followed a 66-36 league win against Mt. Carmel two days earlier in which Jackson Strong led the Falcons with 23 points and Beach added 11 points.

The Falcons improved to 8-0 in league and 25-2 overall for the season.

La Costa Canyon remained unbeaten in Avocado League West play as the Mavericks defeated Rancho Buena Vista 87-46 on Feb. 13.

Travis Fuller scored 22 points to lead the Mavericks, and Brady Twombly and Tommy McCarthy added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The victory followed a 61-52 league win against El Camino on Feb. 10 in which McCarthy scored 29 points to lead the Mavericks and Twombly added 16 points.

The Mavericks improved to 6-0 in league and 19-6 overall for the season.

San Diego Jewish Academy extended its winning streak to four games with a 51-36 victory over Classical Academy in an Ocean League game on Feb. 12.

Aaron Perez scored 18 points to lead the Lions, and Ilya Levin added eight points and eight rebounds.

Jordan Battaglia contributed seven points, six assists, six steals and six rebounds.

The victory followed a 48-21 win against Rock Academy two days earlier in which Perez scored 18 points and Battaglia added 11 points.

The Lions improved to 4-0 in league and 10-12 overall for the season.

Canyon Crest Academy defeated Westview 65-47 in a Palomar League game on Feb. 13.

Daymian Vajda and Ryan Michaels each scored 19 points to lead the Ravens, and Justin Li added 13 points.

The Ravens improved to 2-6 in league and 8-17 overall for the season.

Cathedral Catholic lost to Mission Bay 43-39 in a Western League game on Feb. 12.

Cameron Moore scored 12 points in defeat for the Ravens and Dallas Cunningham added 11 points.

The Dons fell to 7-3 in league 14-8 overall for the season.

Girls basketball:

La Costa Canyon remained unbeaten in Avocado League West play as the Mavericks trounced Rancho Buena Vista 83-37 on Feb. 13.

Taylor Pierce scored 26 points to lead the Mavericks, and Rachel Dumiak added 20 points.

The victory followed an 82-14 league win against El Camino on Feb. 10 in which Pierce led the Mavericks with 34 points.

The Mavericks improved to 6-0 in league and 20-5 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines defeated Poway 69-55 in a Palomar League game on Feb. 13.

Christina Ellis scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Falcons, and Sierra Campisano added 19 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory followed a 55-43 loss to Mt. Carmel in a league game two days earlier in which Campisano scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds and Madison Lombard added 13 points.

The Falcons improved to 6-2 in league and 18-8 overall for the season.

San Dieguito Academy snapped a 10-game skid as the Mustangs defeated San Pasqual 43-38 in an Avocado League East game on Feb. 12.

Emma Schneir scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds and eight steals to lead the Mustangs.

Allison Sakihara added 10 points, and Jessica Morilak contributed nine points.

The victory avenged a 45-29 loss to San Pasqual on Jan. 23 in the first round of league.

The Mustangs improved to 1-7 in league and 2-17 overall for the season.

Girls soccer:

Santa Fe Christian extended its winning streak to 12 game as the Eagles defeated La Jolla Country Day 4-0 in a Coastal League game on Feb. 13.

Jessi Cable and Kristen Cole each scored one goal and had one assist to lead the Eagles.

Olivia Hamel and Avery VanHouten each added one goal, and Chloe Frisch and Julia Roediger each contributed one assist.

Eagles goalie Erin Vandertie was credited with the shutout.

The victory followed a 2-1 league win against High Tech SD on Feb. 10 in which Frisch and Angela Gunness each scored one goal and Kat Cornell contributed one assist.

The Eagles improved to 9-0-1 in league and 15-1-1 overall for the season.

Cathedral Catholic defeated Our Lady of the Peace 2-0 in a Western League game on Feb. 13.

Olivia Erlbeck scored one goal and had two assists to lead the Dons, and Jessica Clegg and Alyssa Fiddes each added one goal.

Erin Kelly and Emily Sanchez combined for the shutout.

The Dons improved to 5-1 in league and 19-3-2 overall for the season.

Sarah Trissel scored both goals for the Falcons, and Katie Dove had one assist.

Veronica Romines (65 minutes played) and Sherrie Antoun (15 minutes) combined for the shutout.

Boys soccer:

Jagger Havlik scored one goal and had one assist to lead the Falcons. Blake McAtte and Bailey Buckley each scored one goal, and Matthew Botsford added two assists.

The Falcons improved to 7-0-1 in league and 16-4-4 overall for the season.
